Q. Why should I consider purchasing a GPS navigation unit?
A. There are numerous benefits of having a GPS navigation unit:
- You won't get lost in unfamiliar territory

Q. What is the difference between a Magellan® GPS navigation device with AAA content and other navigation devices?
A. In addition to the Magellan® GPS navigation features, the Magellan® device with AAA content will provide the following AAA information:
- AAA Diamond-Rated Restaurants
- AAA Diamond-Rated Accommodations
- Show Your Card & Save® Locations for Member Discounts
- AAA Approved Auto Repair Facilities
- AAA Approved Campgrounds
- AAA Branch Office Locations
- AAA Member Roadside Assistance Details (AAA phone number plus and the vehicle's exact location data to provide to the AAA operator)

Q. Where can AAA members purchase the Magellan® GPS Navigation units with AAA content?
A. Magellan® GPS navigation units with AAA content can be purchased from many of the national retailers. In addition, Magellan® GPS Navigation units can be purchased by going to www.AAA.com/gps and clicking the Buy Now button.
Q. Which Magellan® units will come with the AAA content?
A. AAA content will only be available on select models. The Magellan® RS2TM, 800, MaestroTM 3140, MaestroTM 3210, MaestroTM 3250, MaestroTM 4000, MaestroTM 4040, MaestroTM 4050, MaestroTM 4210 and MaestroTM 4250 are the models with AAA information. Additional models will be released with AAA content in the near future. Only Magellan® units identified as AAA Edition contain AAA content.
Q. If I already own a Magellan® unit, can I upload the AAA TourBook guide travel information for it?
A. Unfortunately, AAA TourBook content cannot be uploaded to a non-AAA Edition Magellan® unit at this time. Please purchase a designated AAA Edition Magellan® unit to receive AAA TourBook content.
Q. Can non-AAA members purchase the Magellan® GPS Navigation units with AAA content?
A. Yes, non-AAA members can purchase the Magellan® GPS Navigation units with AAA content. All purchasers will have access to the AAA content. However, only AAA members will receive a free extended warranty on Magellan® devices, free AAA content updates, 15% SYC&S discount on Magellan® GPS units, accessories and map updates, and will be able to benefit from the Roadside Assistance details screen on the Magellan® unit.

Q. What exclusive AAA member benefits do I receive if I purchase a Magellan® personal navigation unit with AAA content?
A. AAA members receive:
- A free extended warranty for an additional second year on AAA Edition Magellan® GPS navigation devices
- Free AAA data updates on designated Magellan® MaestroTM units
- 15% SYC&S discount on Magellan® GPS units, accessories and map updates
- AAA Roadside Assistance Details if a member needs AAA Roadside Assistance or needs to call 911 in an emergency, the member can provide their
exact location shown on the device when calling for Roadside Assistance.
Q. How to I receive my additional year warranty on my GPS unit?
A. Call AAA's dedicated member line, 1-888-222-6277, and provide your valid membership number to obtain a member-exclusive promotional code. Go to the Magellan® website to register your Magellan® unit. Create a profile on the Magellan® website. It will then prompt you to log back into the Magellan® website and then click on the “Register a Product” link. On the registration page of the Magellan® website, enter your member-exclusive code in the registration code field. After you enter your code you will receive your second-year warranty for free. All warranties must be registered within 60 days of purchase.
Q. How do I update the AAA information on my Magellan® device?
A. Magellan® GPS devices come with the most current AAA data available. Updates are available for Maestro 3140, 3210, 3250, 4000, 4040, 4050, 4210 and 4250 units. Click here to download AAA data to these devices. AAA data updates do not include map updates or firmware updates. For updated maps or firmware, please visit the Magellan website. System requirements for upgrades: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. Mac update is currently not available.
AAA updates will be provided for one year from the date of purchase or two years from the date of purchase if you are a valid member and register your Magellan® unit with Magellan® within 60 days of purchase. (See Second Year Warranty Registration). You must be a valid member at the time of your update. Data may not be available in all areas

- Go to the Magellan® website to register your Magellan® unit.
- Create a profile on the Magellan® website
- Log back into the Magellan® website and click on the “Register a Product” link

Q. What is GPS and how does it work?
A. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. A GPS unit can calculate your location based on signals from orbiting satellites, a computer map and a built-in database.

Q. Can I move the GPS unit to another vehicle?
A. Yes! The unit is completely portable, and comes with a built-in battery. You can even use it while you're on foot.
Q. Does the GPS unit provide information on where am I as I drive down the road?
A. Yes, during navigation you are getting real-time information about your vehicle location, direction of travel and speed. This is mapped onto static information about the surrounding geography and "points of interest" (POI).
Q. If I need emergency roadside service, can I use the GPS unit to find out where I am?
A. Yes, with "one-button" you can get the AAA phone number to call for emergency road service. It will also provide your current location in both latitude/longitude coordinates and city/cross-streets. You must be a AAA member to receive AAA emergency roadside assistance.
Q. What does it mean that the AAA content is all searchable?
A. You can search for a service by category (i.e. hotel, restaurant etc) and by location (at your current location, along your route or at a final destination). You can also search by name by typing into the touch-screen.
